Installing a Treatment Plant FAQs

The cold is finally here and the winter is in full swing. That’s not stopping the installations though! We often get a lot of questions about installing treatment plants, septic tanks, pumping stations, separators and flow controls as well as other drainage – the processes depend on application, but here are a few of the things we’ve been asked this week

“How long does it take to install a treatment plant?”

This question is one we get a lot. There is not exact answer due to the huge amount of variables on each project, but on a typical site an installation from start to finish takes 3-5 days. In reality, account for a working week for a standard sized plant to be installed and commissioned. What is most important for us is that the job is done properly – that’s why we plan our installations fully before we arrive on the first day. We pride ourselves on communication and ensure customers are kept fully informed at every step.

“Do I need a pumped outlet or a gravity outlet”

The type of outlet you need depends on where you are discharging to and whether you can get there with the fall of the land. Water will always take the easiest route and certainly won’t go uphill without help! There are two types of discharge pumps, integral ones and external ones. Each have advantages and disadvantages and different types will suit different sites. We are on hand to help you pick the right treatment plant and drainage equipment for your project.

“What will I see when you’re done?”

To be honest, once you treatment plant is installed, you won’t see much at all! We ensure that we leave the ground as close to how it was when we started your installation. We take real pride in our work and if we do it right, you’ll hardly know we were there. During the installation there will be quite a hole…but by the end, it’ll be level and graded. What you actually see will depend on the unit you choose. It might be a small manhole or it may be a domed top. If you have an aesthetic preference, please let us know.

“Is the digger and other equipment included in the price?”

Our quoted installation prices are inclusive of all plant hire, equipment and additional materials. We can’t account for unforeseen circumstances (which are very rare) but the rest we can plan to perfection. We arrive on site with the right equipment for the job. We don’t use over sized machinery on small jobs, we ensure access is possible and our operators are highly experienced. You don’t have to think about any of it!

“Do you set everything up once it’s in?”

Yes – we full set up and commission the systems we install and give the homeowner a full handover so they know exactly how everything works and what to do if it doesn’t.

We are taking booking for installation for 2023, so if you’re looking to replace your treatment plant, separator, septic tank, pumping station or surface water control in Norfolk , Suffolk, Essex or Cambridge, get in touch!
